Cookie notice

The cookies and similar technologies we use, what they do, and your choices. We use no advertising cookies. Last updated 22 August 2026.

What cookies does Marking.ai use?

Only what the product needs: cookies to keep you signed in and secure, cookies to understand how the product is used and where it fails, and cookies for our support chat. We do not use advertising cookies, do not sell data collected by cookies, and do not use it for targeted advertising. Essential cookies cannot be switched off without breaking sign-in; you can block or delete the rest in your browser, and our analytics provider respects your browser's Do Not Track signal.

Strictly necessary

Authentication cookies keep you signed in and secure your session; an impersonation cookie is set only when support staff view the product as a user, with analytics disabled while it is; and hosting cookies handle routing and protection against abuse. Without these you cannot sign in.

Analytics and product improvement

Our product-analytics provider sets cookies that identify a browser across visits so we can measure feature use and errors - by an internal identifier, not your name or email, with IP addresses anonymised at collection, kept up to 12 months. It also records sessions; recording is switched off on the student upload and results pages and during support access, does not capture what you type into form fields, and recordings are stored in the EU and deleted after 30 days. It respects Do Not Track.

Support chat and website analytics

Our CRM and support-chat provider sets cookies that identify a visitor across sessions and link a support conversation to a contact record, and record visits, sessions and traffic sources.

Student-facing pages

If you open an upload or results link you are not signed in, and session recording is switched off on those pages. Our analytics and support tools currently load and record the visit and browser type with the IP address anonymised at collection; that is not used to identify you or for marketing, and we are working to remove these scripts from student-facing pages entirely.

Your choices

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies under its privacy settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal our analytics provider will not track you. Write to privacy@marking.ai for help with any of this.

Questions about how we handle school work?

The security pages set out what we hold, where it is processed and who else touches it. If you cannot find an answer there, a person will reply.
